MotionFlipbook Animations and HTML5 Video

Update January 22, 2010: After avoiding Flash video for some time, I've reimplemented these videos using the HTML5 <video> tag with H.264 and Ogg, so this should work fine with Safari 4+, Chrome, or Firefox 3.5+. Internet Explorer, Opera, and Camino users will continue to be served the original QuickTime embeds until they support this too. Major smartphones are being served a mobile page using H.264 codecs. Edit: And Opera 10.5+.

This is not polished material. It's an experiment, and my first actual animation, if you don't count the animated GIFs I used to create years ago. I pieced the frames and audio together with QuickTime, but if you know of any better applications for the job, chime in.

"Keeping it Reel Silent"

Here's some homage to the silent films. Granted, it's still stick figures, but this is all testing. I was also testing the simulated movement where the lines jiggle roughly by looping a few frames, which conveniently serves as a time saver when you're working with 60ish frames. Like the previous clip, this plays at 6 frames per second. There's no audio in this one, for I'm searching for public domain instrumental pieces, or any that I'm sure I'd have the proper rights to use.
